Look! Three and twentieth years has he lived
And says he pain is but like joy only a gift.
His arms are, as always, spread wide open,
Embrace if you will, or ignore and hatred deepen.
Lived has he his three and twentieth year,
And seen many a thing: normal and mysterious;
Some filled him with fantastic thoughts; some with fear.
Life mocks him; he mocks life back, for he’s boisterous.
As men lives, this man has many more years to live
If knowledge gains he can he but knowledge give
But what comes next and where should he go?
Aye! What is to come, by and by, he’ll surely know.
